The AMER region consists of four affiliate offices located respectively in NYC (USA), Sao Paolo (Brazil) and Toronto (Canada), Santiago (Chile) with plans soon for a new office in Mexico.

 

 

The Regional Controller reports to the Group Head of Finance based in Luxemburg and to the President of Murex in the Americas who is based in the NYC office.  The Regional Controller will be in charge for the AMER area for the Accounting, the Financial Control and the Financial Reporting functions. He/she is the key point of contact in the AMER region for the other financial departments of the Group for all related matters. The role will include supervising a team of 4 people (2 accountants, 1 sales-administrator & 1 financial planning analyst) located in NYC, as well as managing the relationship with external accounting firms in the other locations. Responsibilities include, without being limited to, the following tasks:

REPORTING

Period-end accounts closing

The following duties shall be carried on within strict respect of the group deadlines:

 

  • Work closely with external accountants and employees in other AMER offices to enforce timely and correct reporting.
  • Responsible for processing and reconciliations of intercompany transactions including sales, royalties, payroll, travel expenses and others
  • Responsible for preparation of internal and external accounting reports, financial statements including Cash Flow and Cash Reporting for AMER area.
  • Work closely with Finance Team to ensure completeness of transactions, including prepaids and accruals for monthly close.
  • Review and process Journal entries for payroll, 401K, Company Match, and bonuses
  • Communicate and ensure correctness of transactions between all Murex regions and AMER
  • Responsible for reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on monthly basis.

 

 

PROCEDURE & CONTROLLING

  • Help establishing and improve existing internal procedures to ensure accurate and secure accounting and analytical data.
  • Promote the respect of procedures in financial information systems;
  • Monitor and manage bank delegations and means of payment in accordance with group best practices.

 

 

 

 

TAXATION

  • Work with Financial Controller to ensure regional offices are in compliance regarding local tax requirements and reporting
  • Ensure the implementation and respect of tax related group policies;
  • Liaise with external accountants on tax reporting requirements and schedule; review and monitor regulatory filings;
  • Work with Financial Controller to coordinate any tax related audits.
  • Prepare and ensure timely filing of all business related taxes including sales and use tax and commercial rent tax

 

ANNUAL CLOSING

  • Coordinate year – end audit including preparation of supporting schedules based on provided by auditors’ PBC list.    Ensure flow of support by managing set deadlines.
  • Work closely with external accountants in accordance with the group consolidation planning (Brazil, Canada, Santiago, …)

 

PAYROLL

  • Process and record payroll journal entries.
  • Work with FP&A and HR on preparation of headcount report
  • Determine and process monthly payroll, bonus and other payroll transactions

 

CASH

  • Process all the vendor payments in timely manner and in agreement with internal payment process policies

 

ON-GOING

  • Responsible for maintaining good rapport and ongoing communication with other hubs, as well as external accounting firms.
  • Local point of contact for bank representatives.
  • Monitor operating cash balances in the regional entities and ensure adequate cash is maintained

 

 

AD-HOC PROJECTS:

Active participation on projects requested internally and externally (other Murex regions).

PROFILE OF JOB HOLDER

 

Essential

  • Strong interpersonal skills required
  • Self-driven team player with excellent communication skills; Must be comfortable working independently.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills;
  • Small company ($60-$100MM in revenue and 150-200 person HC) experience preferred.
  • Experience in a software implementation and support  company a plus ;
  • Experience with ERP (Sage, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft); ADP payroll systems a plus;
  • Good Knowledge of Excel (manipulation of data, advanced formulas), importing/exporting data, Outlook and MS office required;
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus;
  • Audit and international business administration background required; experience with South American entities a plus
  • Comfortable with US GAAP; knowledge of IFRS a plus
